The Family Advocate serves as an advocate and case manager for families who have been exposed to trauma and/or violence and have had contact with law enforcement or other first responders. The Family Advocate is interested in having a positive impact on the lives of families in Manchester, NH through the Adverse Childhood Experiences Response Team Enhancement Project (AEP) and coordinates ACERT deployments, child/family case management, and referrals to local service providers, as contracted through the City of Manchester Police Department US Department of Justice (DOJ) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) grant. The Family Advocate works in close collaboration with ACERT Enhancement Project Supervisor and the City of Manchester Police and Fire Departments, YWCA NH, and other community-based service providers. The Family Advocate is committed to educating families on the effects of adverse childhood experiences and improving family access to and follow through with community supports. The Family Advocate will have a drive and enthusiasm for innovative community connections and program improvement strategies. Note: This position is jointly based out of the Manchester Police Department and will require completion of a background check. This position is grant-funded through September 30, 2021 with the expectation that the ACERT leadership team will seek funds for sustainability of the role and project as a whole.
