Sr. Manager, Expert Advisory Services (Finance)



The Sr. Manager, Technical Consulting will lead and execute consulting arrangements for Technical Expert Advisor consults in the US, EU, and throughout the world, developing this revenue channel for the company. This includes supervising the respective consulting personnel and managing collaborative integration of services for an improved client experience. This role is a trusted advisor and consultative expert for customers and internal functions across the company.

Education and experience requirements:

MS or PhD in microbiology or other appropriate scientific discipline with at least 5 years' experience consulting for medical devices and pharmaceuticals OR BS with 10 years' experience.

Essential Duties:

Technical Expert Advisors

  • Manage consulting workflow and ensure resources and personnel are adequate to meet the requirements of the client
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiencies
  • Manage and control expenditures within agreed budgets for the group
  • Ensure personnel receive adequate communication and direction to perform their job functions
  • Work with leadership to define, implement, track, and respond to the data performance metrics and trends for the technical consulting function
  • Serve as an internal technical resource: assist with large or complex internal projects and proposals

Business Development
  • Understanding of global capabilities and competencies (including networking with other facilities)
  • Collaborate on integration of appropriate lab services in US and OUS
  • Drive technical consulting and new business development leading to lab work
  • Thought leadership: participate in committee meetings, mentor internal staff, and present at seminars and webinars worldwide
  • Develop the consultant's toolbox: gain more breadth for tests and consult and regulatory phases to help clients
  • Know and follow the Nelson Service Standard and Code of Ethics

Team Management
  • Manage personnel issues and provide timely feedback and reinforcement on performance
  • Meet regularly with Team Members to assess resource needs (1:1)
  • Ensure company-wide communications are disseminated to the appropriate personnel

Regulatory Compliance
  • Know and follow applicable regulatory requirements (GMP, GLP, ISO, etc.).
  • Know and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Complete required training on time.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment:

Professional office environment for technical consulting:

  • This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, computer mouse, telephones, photocopiers, projectors and file cabinets.
  • Typically works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting (e.g. lab).
  • Work from home or out of office may be required or allowed with management approval

Travel requirements.

Frequent travel domestically and internationally along with some out-of-the area and overnight travel may be expected. May be required to attend domestic and international trade shows, seminars, client visits and conferences.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to stand/walk for 10% of the day and 90% of the day sitting at a desk or on the computer. Must be able to attend trade shows, seminars, and conferences. Must be able to occasionally lift a maximum of 45lbs.
