Corporate Title: Senior Manager Research Analyst
The Investment Officer reports to the Global Head of Manager Research and locally to the Head of Office " and is responsible for the oversight of European based portfolio management teams that manage money for Manulifes Global Wealth and Asset Management platforms. The role is also responsible for reporting to and serving as the primary investments point of contact for the Management Company board and the fund boards overseeing the Luxembourg and UCITS platforms.
The role is an investment oversight position; qualified candidates are expected to continuously review traditional long only strategies and alternative strategies (including long/short, absolute return, alternative risk premia, option overlay, etc.). Day to day support of this review is supported by the global and local teams of investment compliance, investment risk, and fund risk. The role requires significant interaction with fund board. The role will present the managers credentials for the task, the investment process to be adopted and have intimate knowledge of the restrictions, limitations and operational considerations to support the managers execution of the strategy. In a delegated model, this oversight requires collaboration with other manager research team analysts in US, Canada and Hong Kong.
In reviewing investment strategies the Investment Officer must be able to clearly identify performance drivers, develop value propositions and articulate performance expectations (performance blueprint). The Investment Officer is expected to regularly engage with Portfolio Managers to ensure the success of strategies covered. Where an issue is identified the Investment Officer is responsible for providing an in-depth review and proposal for resolution of the issue.
The Senior Manager Research Analyst may also work with regional Product Development teams in researching potential new strategies.
