Pipefitter (Finance)



Overview

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable, safety conscious, experienced, Pipefitter to work full time for SJS in Bronx, New York to help support operations at a Veteran's Affairs facility.

SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

Journeyman Pipefitters for VA in Bronx, NY, will be responsible for Inspecting, adjusting, cleaning, repairing, the following: plumbing fixtures and systems, steam operated equipment, heating and water systems, waste lines, kitchen and laundry equipment, air compressors, medical compressed air systems, vacuum systems, oxygen systems and natural gas distribution systems.

The Journeyman Pipefitter must possess these key qualifications to be eligible for this job:

  • 4+ years of pipefitting experience; and
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, plans, sketches, and other specifications.
  • Will have Trade-Specific tools/toolbox
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience working on various types of piping systems that range from high-pressure systems, gas systems, to various line systems.

    This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal government employees and service members.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include:

    • Inspecting, adjusting, cleaning, repairing, the following: plumbing fixtures and systems, steam operated equipment, heating and water systems, waste lines, kitchen and laundry equipment, air compressors, medical compressed air systems, vacuum systems, oxygen systems and natural gas distribution systems.
    • Determine appropriate pipe compositions for projects; Plan, lay out and install piping systems and equipment from blueprints, sketches, etc.; Install, modify, and repair potable water, sanitary sewer, compressed air and high-pressure steam systems; and Ensure pressure tight joints, such as compression, flared, threaded, flange, bolted flange, welded and soldered.
    • Minor welding repairs and fabrication requiring the use of oxygen, acetylene, arc welding, and pipe welding.
    • Install pipes with necessary hangers, brackets and other necessary support to ensure proper pitch and elevation of pipes.
    • Install/repair various high-pressure piping systems and equipment (e.g., steam, heating, steam generation, vacuum systems, radiators, and circulating pumps) to ensure proper operation. Knowledge of how various high-pressure piping systems and equipment are installed and operate.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • COVID-19 Vaccination completed. Must maintain certification of vaccination form, and always carry a signed copy when on shift.
    • Authorized to work in US.
    • High School Diploma OR GED Required
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience
    • Ability to Read and interpret blueprints and manufacturers' specifications for installing and repairing equipment.
    • Ability to plan and lay out the installation, modification, and repair of various new and existing piping systems and equipment.
    • Ability to interpret and apply building plans and blueprints, and to use shop mathematics to lay out angles, arcs, and circles.
    • Ability to utilize appropriate tools and devices (e.g., hand and power threaders, cutters, flanges, micrometers, calipers, etc.) to fabricate parts for project.
    • Ability to work from blueprints, plans, sketches and other specifications to locate piping system malfunctions. Utilize building plans/blueprints to lay out the routing, placement, pitch, incline and elevation of systems and equipment.
    • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
