Adaptive Recreation Coordinator (Healthcare)
Children's Clinics is seeking a Full-Time Adaptive Recreation Coordinator.
The Adaptive Recreation Coordinator will work closely with the Volunteer and Events Coordinator, administration and a variety of rehabilitative therapists and collaborate to improve the lives of our patients through play, recreation and the creation of meaningful childhood memories, directly impacting and promoting the wellbeing of our patients The successful candidate will be energetic and possess a passion for play and recreation, be a highly self-motivated individual with effective communication skills to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders, be skilled in collaborating with many unique audiences to transform strategy into action, have the ability to work within and across teams and possess strong organization skills to prioritize competing demands and execute time-sensitive work.
A High School Diploma or GED and one year of related experience required. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred. Knowledge and experience with recreation and coordinating activities, problem solving and championing change to support continuous improvement preferred. SUMMARY
This position is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and appropriately resourcing the Adaptive Recreation program at Childrens Clinics. Plans, organizes and facilitates adaptive recreation activities including annual adaptive athletics, arts, and other recreational activities. Serves as primary point of contact for community coaches, facilities, and other key stakeholders. Collaborates closely with Childhood Experiences staff, rehabilitative therapists, and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Oversees and organizes adaptive recreation program events and activities including but not limited to adaptive athletics, adaptive arts, staff trainings/workshops, and ensures close collaboration with other key staff including the Volunteer and Event Coordinator and key rehabilitative therapists
Ensures Children's Clinics staff are informed and educated on the benefits of adaptive recreation and how to recruit patient participants for the program; breaks down barriers for patients to engage in adaptive recreation
Acts as the primary point of contact and liaison for staff, providers, volunteers, participants, and other external partners as it relates to the adaptive recreation program; distributes pertinent information to key stakeholders and communicates program updates regularly
Supports fund development for the adaptive recreation program by partnering with development staff to ensure all key program information is available for seeking philanthropic support through grants, sponsorships and other funding opportunities
Collaborates with Volunteer and Event Coordinator to engage in outreach, organize volunteer and community support for adaptive recreation events
Coordinates all El Tour de Tucson initiatives at Children's Clinics including rider recruitment, registration, training rides when appropriate, pre-race events, race day, and follow up with families and community supporters including donors and volunteers
Measures and assesses the success of the adaptive recreation program; reports key metrics and makes recommendations for improvements
Performs other duties as required and assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of youth athletic program activities and coordination
Knowledge of program development and program evaluation
Skill and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer applications
Skill in motivating and leading groups of individuals in complex settings including program participants, volunteers, coaches, therapists, and others
Skill in team building and collaboration with others within the organization as well as key stakeholders within the broader community
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with diverse groups including patients, staff, volunteers, donors, and community members
Ability to multitask and perform a variety of administrative and organizational tasks
Ability to engage and motivate a diverse group of volunteers to carry out tasks that are positively impactful to the organization
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Experience:
One or more years of related experience required

FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE
