Engineering Technician (Engineering)



The Engineering Technician will be responsible for supporting the Engineering team at TREQ for technical assistance with products during all phases of the design process.  The Engineering Technician needs to be able to gain a complete and thorough knowledge of existing products in order to optimize the team's performance level.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical support of hardware and software Engineers.
  • Set-up and conduct tests according to test specifications.
  • Troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical systems. 
  • PCB assembly, repair, and modification – Soldering SMT and through hole components.
  • Read and interpret technical documents – Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Mechanical Drawings.
  • Perform assembly, modification and installation work following Engineering instruction.
  • Properly conduct testing, and accurately collect test data.
  • Prepare formal test reports following established formats, clearly and accurately documenting test set-up, methodology, results and conclusions.
  • Provide and maintain all necessary lab records, documents, forms, matrix and logs.
  • Mechanical assembly and disassembly of various products.
  • Build or modify test fixtures when appropriate.
  • Sample handling and tracking for test purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Two years of post-secondary education (college or trade school) with an emphasis on electronics, engineering or engineering technology.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience is also required with at least 3 years of solid experience in a laboratory or engineering position.
  • Ability to lift 60 + pounds.    
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good organizational skills and ability to maintain a clean work environment. 
  • Basic computer skills required including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiar with basic electronics tools – DVM, Oscilloscope, Data loggers, Spectrum Analyzer. 
  • Experience with basic tools including drills, saws, hand tools.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently to accomplish tasks.  

Desired Qualifications:

  • It is highly preferred that the candidate have exposure to motorized products. Consumer appliance, electronic or similar product experience a plus.
  • Experience with RF concepts and associated equipment. 
  • Experience with PLC, ladder logic, Labview or other programming languages.
  • Experience in a new product development environment.
  • Lab safety training experience.
