Machine Shop Operator (Finance)
Setup & Operate manual & semiautomatic machines for de-burring, cleaning/washing, preserving, and packaging machined components.
Assembling simple part sub-assemblies required by machine shop and assembly centers.
Help machine cells with general upkeep.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
Read & understand factory orders and shop schedules.
Disassemble and Assemble pins & rollers in Ring Gear Housing Assemblies, as required by work orders.
Setup, operate, and maintain deburring equipment, engraver, washing machine, and rust prevention equipment.
Verify dimensions of work piece using simple measurement devices such as tape measure, go/no go gauges, and calipers.
Document actions by completing setup sheets and production & quality logs.
Follow Process Sheets, Process Maps, Standard Operating Procedures and Poka-Yoke systems implemented by Manufacturing Engineering and Shop management to generate predetermined production volumes, while ensuring best quality and lead times.
Run & maintain simple equipment such as bandsaws and small presses. Cut material - barstock & tubestock - for CNC machining areas.
Load/Unload parts on simple machine processes (setups to be performed by skilled machinist) under close supervision by CNC machinists.
Move machine shop inventory into proper stocking locations. Maintain stock of machining blank inventory (RGH, Bevel Gears, Adaptors, etc) and raw material (barstock & tubestock) in the correct kanban quantities and locations, as directed by shop management.
Operate overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and forklifts (sit-down and stand-up) to move & stage material.
Manual lifting will be required as part of regular daily work.
Perform daily cleaning and light maintenance tasks on assigned machinery.
Keep all direct work areas clean and well organized. Actively practice a culture of 5S (Sort, Set and Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) in the machine shop.
Empty trash, machined chips, scrap metal, scrap wood products, & items for recycling in accordance with company (environmental) policies and procedures. Maintain log for recording frequency and quantities of these.
Operate shop facilities equipment such as floor scrubber, coolant recycling systems, and metal chip briquetters.
Assist shop cells and maintenance with general shop cleanup (regular 5-S activities, any exceptional cleaning events, etc).
Ensure all manufacturing safety & regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times.
Be a resource to other company initiatives/projects with focus on Machine shop.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires High School Diploma or GED.
Requires at least 5 years of experience involving in a fast paced work environment with focus in Manufacturing or Assembly.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate simple machines.
