The Washington Post isseeking a visualenterprise editorwho would joinForeignto conceive anddrivemoretimely,memorableand effective visual storytelling about what matters most around the world.
This is a new position,oneintendedtoaddanotherdimensiontoForeign'sleadershipteam.The visual enterprise editorwillreport directly to the foreign editor, whowillbe an active partner in elevating visually driven storytellingcentral to our international coverage.The editorwilloverseesomelong-term projectsbutwillgiveequal priority to quick-turn visual stories using formats thatbestfit the stories we are telling.
Therole is intended for a highly accomplished,collaborativevisual journalist with a track record of successworking across departments to imagine and execute memorableintegratedmultimediastorytelling.Any candidate shouldhavea strong background in visualreporting, with deep experience in video, photo,graphicsor design, and should have at least five yearsofexperience as an editor running avisual team. We have identified a strong internal candidate for this position butwant to hearfrom others interested in this or related roles.
The visual enterprise editorwill overseea full-time visual enterprise reporteron Foreign.Foreign correspondents and breaking-news reporterswill befrequent partners in these efforts, along with photo, video,graphicsand audio editors whose responsibilities include international news.Thevisual enterprise editor will workcloselywithForeign'sregional editors, who will maintain primary responsibilityforcoverage fromparts of the world they oversee.Thevisual enterprise editorwilloverseeall aspects ofmostvisuallydriven projects,includingtext.
This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations, the position will not be eligible for remote work.
