Manufacturing Engineer II- Controls Engineer -J (Architecture)

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, implement, manage, monitor performance, and improve all industrial control and automation used in manufacturing (PLC's, robots, drives, servos, control systems, etc.)
  • Provide troubleshooting, training, and technical support for skilled trades electricians.
  • Maintain and manage electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Manage inventories of replacement components/equipment used in controls/automation.
  • Investigate new technologies and methods for improving industrial controls and automation, such as IoT/Industry 4.0 and robotics.
  • Manage facilities and equipment repairs, replacement, and preventive maintenance beyond the scope of controls/automation as part of the facilities engineering group.
  • Plan and manage capital expenditures approved in the AOP.
  • Assist in training hourly employees to ensure a safe and efficient maintenance department.
  • Maintain records in accordance with QMS maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, insurance, and other industry standards/requirements (e.g. NFPA, EPA, OSHA, NEC)
  • Provide technical support to the maintenance engineering staff, skilled trades, and supervisors.
  • Perform emergency response duties and provide after-hours support for maintenance, security, and emergencies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and program industrial controls, specifically Rockwell/Allen Bradley
  • Experience with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with robotics preferred.
  • Requires a high level of organizational skills, initiative, accurate verbal and written communication, ability to work independently, problem-solving, and leadership.

PHYSICAL EFFORT

Average physical effort is required – frequent light lifting, stooping bending, walking, standing; occasional climbing of ladders and stairs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires working approximately 25% of the time in a manufacturing environment and 75% of the time in an office.  Outdoor work may be required.  The manufacturing environment is occasionally hot, cold, noisy, or dusty.  Rarely will this position be exposed to extreme environments or hazardous conditions – appropriate PPE will be provided as required.
