We are seeking a Merchant Sales Representative that is responsible for developing merchant processing sales opportunities through collaboration with Bank Officers. Merchant Sales Representatives are the industry specialists for the Merchants Processing line of business.
As a Merchant Sales Representative, you may look forward to:
• Partnering with TowneBank Officers by attending calls to evaluate the member/prospect merchant processing needs. Maintaining communication with TowneBank Officers throughout the entire sales/implementation process.
• Obtaining appropriate information about current processing methods and operations in order to develop proposals for TowneBank services.
• Obtaining all information necessary to complete the merchant processing application to include credit information for risk assessment.
• Preparing and delivering proposals and contracts for Merchant Sales to the member.
• Coordinating equipment installation and on-site training for new merchants when needed.
• Following up to ensure member satisfaction and direct the member to ongoing servicing and support areas within TowneBank.
• Conducting relationship reviews and meeting with TowneBank Officers as needed to provide recommendations and enhancements for Merchant Sales opportunities.
• Making recommendations on profitability of fees for Merchant Sales opportunities.
• Providing ACH mining reports to the respective banking officers to highlight sales opportunities.
• Maintaining an updated sales pipeline.
• Participating in ongoing education regarding the merchant processing industry and Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance regulations.
• Obeying all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
• Must be proficient in technology applications.
• General knowledge of commercial and retail banking products and regulations.
• Merchant processing industry experience.
• Outside sales experience.
• A current Virginia or North Carolina driver's license and the ability to travel.
Physically you can anticipate to:
• Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
• Exert up to/carry 25 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
• Vision, hearing, speech, and manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers is required. Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
• Not be substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
