Clearway Energy Group Manager, High Voltage 03/18/2019
Clearway Energy Group is looking for a High Voltage Manager to join the Engineering team supporting CEG's Operations & Maintenance functions. This position will work closely with the other members of the O&M Engineering team to support our activities in the field. This position will be located out of our Scottsdale, AZ office.
Responsibilities · Provide electrical support for Wind and Solar sites across the United States. · Collect site information related to performance, studies, and capabilities. · Maintain files for site equipment, nameplate data, and relevant pictures of substation equipment. · Approve and review guidance on Substation electrical safety, switching operations and grounding. · Provide guidance as needed for maintenance and testing of underground collection cable systems and overhead high/ medium voltage lines · Review and provide feedback on Arc Flash hazard studies and minimization. · Track Pad- Mounted Transformer, GSU and LTC oil sample results (DGA and Oil Quality). Initiate investigative or corrective actions for abnormal trending. · Provide technical assistance for substation battery and protective relay maintenance requirements. Maintain listing of site protective relays and their compiled electronic settings · Provide feedback, input and training for electrical problems experienced at the sites with equipment or operating procedures. Assist in basic electrical course evaluation. · Analyze electrical fault reports and events verifying proper protective relay performance. · Evaluate site reactive controls and capabilities to maintain voltage as specified by Transmission Operator schedules. · Consult and review equipment testing results and reports from contractors following substation Outages · Provide NERC technical evaluations or engineering reviews required for sites to comply with standards.
Qualifications · 5 years of hands-on work dealing with substations, transformers, and other high voltage equipment. · 7 years or more is preferred. · Previous experience interpreting and implementing NERC and FERC requirements as they pertain to substations and transmission to the grid. · Experience managing personnel is a plus. · High School diploma or GED is required. · AS or BS in a relevant field is preferred.
Working Conditions
· Normal office environment and/or plant environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas. · Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment. · Occasionally requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.) · May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals · Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities. · Flexibility to work overtime and non-standard working hours as required · Requires travel (up to 25% depending on business need)
