Community Education Specialist (Personal Services)
The Community Education Specialist is responsible for conducting routine and customized outreach and education within local communities and regionally based on identified needs through data and reports or as requested by the community. This position seeks to provide appropriate and timely information and to teach and inspire change within public and private entities that routinely interact with individuals with behavioral health needs or other high risk populations. All Education efforts are designed to improve access to care, encourage prevention, to advance health directed care, promote community based and system wide approaches, processes and programs.
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience with the Behavioral Health population, or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience with the Behavioral Health population. Reliable transportation is required for business. Must be able to transport self and materials to various community sites with flexible days and hours.
Knowledge and Skills
This position will require exceptional interpersonal skills, highly effective communication ability, and the propensity to make prompt independent decisions based upon relevant facts. Problem solving and conflict resolution skills are essential.
The employee must have a general knowledge of behavioral health and intellectual/developmental disabilities and extensive knowledge regarding community services. The employee must have a willingness to become proficient in all disability areas, including areas where co-occurring illnesses exist. Knowledge of the primary purpose and functions of community agencies.
