AVP/Managing Director, Operational Risk Officer, General Account & Private Markets
The AVP/Managing Director, Operational Risk Officer, GA/MAM Privates, will be responsible for assisting the Chief Risk Officer of Global Wealth and Asset Management in providing leadership and direction to develop, implement and maintain effective risk governance and management practices, and for overseeing operational risk mitigation activities within two divisions of Manulife: The General Account and Manulife Asset Management Privates.
Manulifes General Account has strong expertise managing a broad range of public and private investments. The General Account investment philosophy is to invest in an asset mix that optimizes risk adjusted returns and matches the characteristics of Manulifes underlying liabilities.
Manulife Asset Management Private Markets has investment expertise in several private asset classes, including commercial real estate, timberland, farmland, oil and gas, private equity and mezzanine debt. Manulife Asset Management Private Markets also partners with Manulifes specialized private asset investment teams to invest in private placement debt and commercial mortgages.
Among other duties, the successful candidate will assist the Chief Risk Officer of Global Wealth and Asset Management with the following key responsibilities:

The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have expertise in the asset management industry across a broad spectrum of asset classes, including fixed income, equities, real estate, private debt, and mortgages, with knowledge of various vehicle types such as separate accounts, mutual funds and ETFs. Previous experience in supporting the general account of an insurance company is a plus. In addition, the candidate will have significant experience in managing an operational risk program for a large financial institution.
