CAD Technician

General Information:

Title: CAD Technician

Status: Full-time; Exempt                         

Location/Site: Corporate

Hours: Monday – Friday, possible weekends   

Reports to: Engineering Director                                  

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Travel Requirements: 25%

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled CAD Technician with experience in SolidWorks and DraftSight. In this role, you will create, modify, and maintain 2D and 3D technical drawings and models to support engineering and manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of mechanical design principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks and DraftSight.
  • Produce technical documentation, including assembly drawings, part drawings, and bill of materials (BOM).
  • Revise and update existing designs to meet project requirements and engineering changes.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and production teams to ensure designs meet specifications and project deadlines.
  • Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback to refine models and drawings.
  • Manage and maintain CAD file libraries and ensure documentation is up-to-date.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and adherence to company standards.
  • Assist in prototyping and testing phases, providing support in resolving design challenges.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in CAD software.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 2 years experience using 3-D and 2-D CAD Software
  • SolidWorks and DraftSight experience preferred, other experience accepted
  • Associate degree or certification in CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field may be substituted for experience
  • Valid US driver's license and strong driving safety record (no more than 2 moving violations in previous 3 years).
  • Acceptable background check, clear of DWI convictions, for the last 5 years.
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration within and between department(s)

Qualifications:

  •  Strong understanding of mechanical design and drafting principles.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials is a plus.
