Quality Engineer (Architecture)
Position Summary:
Reporting to Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining Quality Management System and continuous improvement initiatives. This position works to ensure compliance and maintenance of SOP and Standard Works in accordance with QMS. This position is also responsible for leading continuous improvement projects and/or Kaizen events.
The Quality Engineer will lead and facilitate cross-functional team (Marketing, Engineering, Production and Supply Chain) to carry out CI projects &/or Kaizen events. The incumbent will have the opportunity to implement problem solving tools, (8D, 5W's, Fishbone, FMEA, CAPA, etc.) and make recommendations to management during report out.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist Quality Manager in the control of quality documents (manuals, procedures, work instructions and records).
• Lead training events relating to quality documents (manuals, procedures, work instructions, records and testing, etc.).
• Lead Advance Product Quality Planning process utilizing (PSW- part submission warrant, PPAP-Production Part Approval Process, ECN-Engineering Change Notice, CP-Control Plan, MSA-Measurement System Studies, FMEA-Failure Mode & Effect Analysis).
• Lead internal audit plan and schedule internal audits.
• Lead Continuous Improvement projects and/or Kaizen Events from planning, execution and report out.
• Lead MSA-Measurement System Analysis and PCS-Process Control Studies
• Lead problem solving events utilizing (8D, 5W's, Fishbone, FMEA, CAPA, etc.)
• Compile and analyze data pertaining to Customer Returns and Buy Back, Internal Department Quality Metric (by Department-Stamping, HT, Plating, Staples and by Product Line)
• Assist in Supplier Quality System. Maintain Supplier Scorecard, SCAR and Assessment.
• Assist customer on technical and quality questions.
• Champion, monitor and improve the calibration system process.
• Participate in contract review, In-coming material process and control of non-conforming material.
• Provide weekly report to Quality Manager.
• Adhere to company policies, safety rules and regulations.
Qualification:
• Minimum 3 years' experience in Quality Management in Manufacturing environment, preferably within consumer products.
• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required; Certified Quality Engineering, certification in Six Sigma or other Lean Programs a plus.
• Possesses strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in (8D, 5W's, Fishbone, FMEA, CAPA, etc.)
• High technical knowledge regarding CI methodologies and have demonstrated project management skills
• Skilled at facilitating and leading cross functional teams through structured CI processes or Kaizen Events.
• Practical knowledge of Quality Management System pertinent to ISO9001 standard.
• Strong communication, computer, technical writing and presentation skills.
• Demonstrates strong quality leadership and people management skills.
• Practical knowledge of Calibration System, Gaga R&R, Laboratory Equipment's (XRF Spectrometer, Universal Testing Machine, Life Cycle Tester, Knoop/Vickers/Rockwell hardness tester, etc.)
