Director Sales Training (Remote) (Finance)

Position Overview

The Director of Sales Training and Development role is designed to oversee the Sales Training for new hires with critical on-the-job experience and cross-functional alignment between Inside Sales and Field Sales within the Sales Development and Performance Training area. This position will directly lead the field and inside sales training team, offering vigorous training and development to both their direct team to help build professional and leadership skills while fostering peer interaction. Under the guidance of the Sr. Director, Sales Development and Performance Training you will identify training needs for the United States (US) Commercial organizations and will gain exposure to Insulet's key commercial business elements.

You will engage internal and external experts to consult on training modules, collaborate with Sales Enablement for country specified content delivery, and offer direct peer-to-peer feedback with all new hire classes, plan of action meetings, and the National Sales Meeting. This position will assess needed training content required to effectively increase the knowledge, confidence, development and demonstrated capabilities of the intended audience.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to drive specific commercial decisions, represent field sales, inside sales, and training departments during cross functional meetings and projects.

Develop Training Excellence

  • Work with the Sr. Director of Sales Development and Performance, Field Management and Marketing to develop and deliver appropriate workshops at Sales meetings.
  • Support the Insulet Sales Development and Performance Training Department in consultation with Sales Enablement on new hire training curriculum builds, delivery, execution/pull through for commercial teams' new hire phased training, key launches, and meetings throughout the year.
  • Assist the sales training team and directly influence new and experienced sales and clinical team members by developing and enhancing their product and customer knowledge, confidence, and selling skills to increase commercial sales effectiveness.

Manage Sales Development and Training Team

  • Directly lead a team of sales training managers to peak performance, new hire knowledge competency and confidence, and scale initiatives throughout the department for overall company growth.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement personal and team driven quarterly management by objectives (MBO's) goals, annual training and development goals, and programs.
  • Manage a team related to development, performance, reporting, expenses, day-to-day activities, and new-hire sales training objectives, delivery, execution, and pull through of requirements necessary to support training and development of employees.

Provide Consultation & Best Practices

  • Identify and deliver timely responses to changing market conditions and opportunities via MS Teams/Zoom, both written and verbal communication, conference calls and meetings.
  • Offer well thought out peer to peer feedback and suggest improvements in the Sales Training department for ongoing CQI.
  • Conduct field co-travel and reviews to ensure adequate and consistent training and coaching are conducted for all new and existing field employees. Prepare and deliver coaching feedback in person and by utilizing written field coaching reports.

Foster Cross-Functional Alignment and Execution

  • Work cooperatively with the Commercial team (Field and Inside Sales, Marketing, Clinical, Customer Care, and Reimbursement) to identify on-going training needs.
  • Work with Regional Business Directors, District Sales Managers and Inside Sales Director, Managers/Supervisors to ensure effective initial training of new field-based employees and provide ongoing selling skills training for existing commercial teams.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with commercial sales teams to effectively influence and engage selling strategies.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 15 years of experience in the field sales or field sales leadership
  • 5+ years of directly leading a team

Preferred

  • 10+ years of training, sales, and/or clinical experience in medical device or healthcare industry
  • Diabetes disease state and insulin pump knowledge
  • Appropriate certifications in professional education, training, or adult learning methods

Skills and Competencies

  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, superior training and development skills, clinical selling knowledge, coaching and development skills across internal and external partners, districts, regions, and nation.
  • Skilled in partnering with key stakeholders (e.g., marketing, customer care, regional business directors) to drive aligned execution and training.
  • Possesses the ability and drive to take on multiple projects while balancing leading a team, multiple priorities, and critical deadlines.
  • Ability to deliver constructive and motivational feedback to develop high-performing teams.
  • Executive communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to effectively engage participants in an in-person or virtual classroom setting.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset, focused on driving business outcomes and operational KPIs
  • High level of technical proficiency with business software and applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Teams
  • Ability to generate and maintain accurate records.
  • A record of accomplishment of high-quality results in a complex and fast-paced environment, while demonstrating interpersonal awareness and leadership.

Additional Information

  • Travel will vary weekly based on business needs. Travel is expected to be 50% on average; relocation is not required.

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $164,250.00 - $246,375.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
