Destinating CDL Driver/Operator (Transportation)
Operating single- or tandem-axle day-cab tractors (standard or automatic) & 53' semi-trailers over public & private roadways & highways; transporting, loading and unloading air containers (ULDs) to meet established service delivery tasks, timelines and customer expectations.
Destinating CDL Driver Responsibilities
Loads and transports ULDs between the facility and the air carrier via tractor-trailer, by following specific job instructions and performing the following duties:
Ensures the protection & safeguard of personnel, US Mail, and property; in that order.
Follows all CDL/DOT requirements & procedures.
Ensures awareness & safe driving practices on the road and in the dock areas.
Ensures timely arrival & departure for all trips.
Promptly communicates trip & loading delays to supervisor or team leader.
Ensures trip sheet is filled out accurately.
Assists expeditor in moving ULDs across ball-decking from processing area to dispatch area.
Assists expeditor in preparing dispatch paperwork.
Ensures safe and efficient loading of ULDs onto roller-bed trailers.
Provides light support in the warehouse between trips, as needed.
Ensures all mail is cleared from trailer and equipment has been returned to its intended housing area at the end of the operation.
Other duties as assigned.
Genaeral Hiring Requirements
Stringent Background check, pre-employment D&A screen, and legal US work status required.
Minimum five-year US residency required.
Must meet Selective Service requirements (see www.sss.gov).
Must have clean driving record.
Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work.
Must be available to work the hours needed for the position to ensure completion of daily operations.
Availability:Tuesday – Sunday 18:00 – 01:00 (6pm – 1am)

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Active CDL Class A License; one year work-related driving experience with tractor-trailers; experience driving within city limits; experience driving with 53' trailers.
Language Skills
Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, training guides, and posted procedures. Ability to write legibly in English on routine operational logs, lists or forms. Ability to speak and understand English to communicate effectively with a diverse group of employees, supervisors and customers.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to understand and follow assignments and instructions in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to exercise situational awareness and good judgment, especially on the road.

Must be able to pass recurrent DOT Medical Certification. While performing driving functions, the employee may be seated for several hours at a time. While performing duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, and bend. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. The employee is regularly required to communicate and be mindful of a dead-line based work environment.

All transportation routes are local to Boston. Operational routes are sequential round-trips to transport ULDs between the ASIG facility and street-side cargo house(s) at Logan International Airport. Transportation to and from local fuel & repair shops will be necessary on occasion. The employee is subject to all weather conditions and should therefore dress appropriately. Operational end times are subject to variation in the event of fluctuating volume or transportation delays. The employee will regularly be required to maneuver a 53' tractor-trailer into tight spaces at respective loading docks. The employee may regularly be required to observe or assist the load/unload of the trailer. The employee may regularly traverse over roller-deck and slave-pallet surfaces. During notable down-time, the employee may perform light job functions within the warehouse. The employee must be able to maintain awareness of surroundings always.
