Lower School Assistant Teacher (Education)

JOB SUMMARY: The Lower School Assistant Teacher works actively with assigned students providing instruction or supervision of educational activities. He/she/they may assume teacher responsibilities as required for the entire class for short intervals. In addition to the qualifications detailed below, the successful assistant teacher will possess enthusiasm, creativity and an inclusive, cooperative spirit. The assistant teacher cultivates in students the OES values of community, social responsibility, and respect for individual differences. In addition to the qualifications detailed below, the successful Lower School Assistant Teacher will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to support the School's educational mission.

As professional educators in a dynamic living and learning environment, assistant teachers are required to model professional behavior and observe appropriate adult-student boundaries to support a safe and supportive community for teaching and learning. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated gift for engaging a diverse student body and strengthening the inclusive community of OES.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Support Classroom teacher in classroom planning, preparation, instruction and supervision.

Work with students in various settings - large group, small group and individually, in person and in remote learning environments.
Document student learning.
Assist Lead Teacher with production work.
Attend to duties - lunch, recess, dismissal - as assigned.
