Civil Engineer 3 - Columbia (Architecture)
For more than 50 years, TranSystems has provided engineering and architectural planning, design and construction solutions to enhance the movement of goods and people across today's integrated transportation infrastructure. Headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., its professionals in more than 30 offices throughout the U.S. perform a broad range of services to all sectors of the transportation and federal marketplaces. Services are delivered throughout the asset life cycle, from concept to construction to long-term operations, maintenance and rehabilitation.
Oversee SCDOT construction contracts and projects. Assists the South Carolina Client Service Teams with expanding services throughout the state. Assist with prepositioning and teaming arrangements for project pursuits. Develop and train construction staff.

Education/Experience – Bachelor's degree in the engineering field (i.e. Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical) and 8-10 years of design experience with exposure to a variety of engineering projects and a good understanding of project management concepts.
Language Ability – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Boards of Directors.
Math Ability – Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills - Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline, VMWare, SiteManager
Certificates and Licenses – Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer. SCDOT certifications preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).
