The Senior Manager, Ops PDP Engineering, CST - Cranial Spine Technology, has responsibility for managerial controls for new product introduction teams supporting Cranial and Spine businesses. This individual will manage the Core Team Operations Representatives (CTOR) organization(s) and drive accountability, execution, and ownership of the ID2MR product development process. Supporting the Engineering Director, this individual will help drive deliverables by raising expectations for the application of DRM, COS and by developing value streams.
This role will deploy strategy that align with the Cranial and Spine business Objectives and Operations strategies. Ensure new product is develop on time to meet functional and operational goals that include Quality, Manufacturability, Cost of Flawless Launch.
Day in the life:
- Development of local team member(s) Capability to deliver as Core Team Operations Representatives (CTOR).
- Support the Vision and leadership to mature CTORs by raising expectation of delivering on new product introductions on time, in budget, and manufacturable. Do this by delivering on Design for Manufacturing (DFM)/Cell Operating System (COS)/First Time Quality (FTQ)/High Volume Factory's needs are met.
- Drive a culture/environment of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Develop a collaborative environment with Key partners and stakeholders that include R&D, Quality, Production, Marketing, Regulatory, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Contract Manufacturing, and other RTG functions as required.
- Lead team(s) to drive execution to performance metrics and measures associated with operations program execution and product launch for Cranial & Spine Business goals.
- Manages and takes responsibility for team financial, project, physical resources, and personnel and reports monthly to the director on their status.
- Lead the teams through influence management to motivate individuals to succeed in their program management role by driving results oriented deliverables.
- Manage and develop talent effectively by defining clear expectations toward high performance teams.
- Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
- Aligns with organizational strategy and delivers on operational and project goals.
- Sets high team performance expectations that meets or exceeds project goals which will result in robust and efficient value streams and fast time to market.
- Develops a plan to meet operations and business goals for the team and reports the plan to the director for review of progress.
- Manages and administers annual budgets, schedules, and performance for the team.
- Works closely with product development teams to drive and integrate DFM principles leading to robust processes and technologies.
- Ensures and manages team compliance to the quality policy, reviews and assigns training courses, and compliance to the Quality System for all projects.
- Coaches, mentors and develops talent for high performance.
- Collaborates cross functionally and cross business to alignment with PMO and R&D Product Roadmaps and operations strategies.
- Coordinates with the AME and Production teams understanding process strategy/roadmaps and integration in the New Product introduction and launch.
Must Have: Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience OR
- An Advanced Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience
Nice to Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Scientific Discipline
- 5+ years' experience managing technical teams
- Experience in Process Development and/or operations roles (manufacturing, supply chain).
- 5 years minimum Medical Device Experience
- Experience with design control processes and regulations
- DRM green belt or equivalent such as Lean Sigma and/or COS experience
- Ability to lead, influence, and energize teams as a change agent
- Demonstrated project management Experience
- Ability to translate broad functional initiatives into specific objectives
- Demonstrate results-oriented initiatives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Lean, Six Sigma and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly Principles
- Metals processing techniques including but not limited to shaping, heat setting, joining, cutting, chemical processing, etc.
- Medical device manufacturing regulations and controls
- Design control requirements
- Demonstrated project management Experience
- Ability to lead, influence, and energize teams as a change agent
- Proficient in writing, reading and editing technical documents, protocols and reports
- Proficient in use of Microsoft office products for means of creating and conveying technical information and presentations.
