Production Control Supervisor (Manufacturing)
Position Description:
SUMMARY
Provide production and associated inventory planning leadership for Ortec products. The Production Control Supervisor will lead production planning activities through his/her team in close cooperation with manufacturing, sales, purchasing, and other functions. Based on backlog information and sales/management input the Production Control Supervisor develops monthly, quarterly production plans to achieve revenue and inventory targets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Generate Master Production Schedules in close cooperation with operation and order management leadership for Ortec products.
2. Review sales forecasts, customer demands, and schedules production based on inventory levels and production lead times to meet customer schedules with optimized RAW, WIP, and FG inventory levels.
3. Develop an organization where problems are solved at the lowest level but ideas and issues are escalated without limitation.
4. Review and direct the resolution of production planning and general material availability problems to ensure minimum costs and to prevent operational delays. Work closely with Ortec Manufacturing Managers to resolve production bottlenecks and actively support projects of improving overall throughput.
5. In cooperation with manufacturing and purchasing participate in establishing a process compliant work environment that provides for real-time in-process performance metrics to optimize inventory utilization and continuous lead-time reduction in addition to improving production schedule adherence
6. Develop/implement/maintain a visual management system which becomes integral part of managing operation and communication with employees and management of the company.
7. Implement material and information flow plans to drive improved execution and order visibility.
8. Manage store and shipping-receiving activities. Responsible for inventory accuracy by implementing /maintaining disciplined store management processes including but not limited to cycle counting and annual physical inventory count programs.
9. Maintain and update succession plans for all direct reports through the utilization of performance improvement plans, corrective actions if necessary, and yearly performance evaluations).. Maintain company rules and disciplinary processes. Develop and execute a training plan for skill acquisition and maintenance for new and current personnel. Develop a truly cross-trained workforce.
10. Direct supervision of all store and Ortec production planning team members
11. Serves as production planning expert for all ERP improvement/change projects.
12. Act as NPI gatekeeper for Production Planning.
13. Train and ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with all applicable company, government and customer policies, procedures and regulations.
Position Requirements:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exempt, Non-exempt, and hourly personnel.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum 10 years production planning experience in a complex/detailed high mix/low volume manufacturing environment.
• Supervisory experience
• Lean Manufacturing and Process Improvement experience desirable.
• Experience with ORACLE ERP/MRP system.
• APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) a plus
• Strong PC skills (Word & Excel) required
• Ability to work independently
• Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and have strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills
• A track record of change management and delivering results based on business needs
