Principal Technical Program Manager- Network (Creative Design)



Position Title: Principal Technical Program Manager  (P5)

Role

As a Principal Technical Program Manager for Network Peering and Interconnect strategies, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing strategic initiatives related to network peering and interconnectivity. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our network infrastructure supporting network peering and interconnect is scalable, reliable, and optimized for delivering high-quality services to our customers.

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the development and execution of the Network Peering and Interconnect program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. The role involves planning, executing, and monitoring complex projects related to network peering and interconnect.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external network providers and internet exchanges for the purpose of peering and negotiate peering agreements.
  • Implement strategies for network interconnectivity, including direct connections to cloud service providers, data centers, and content delivery networks.
  • Deliver scalable network infrastructure solutions and work to manage risks across the organization and develop best practices that are a benefit across the organization.
  • Ensure that network peering and interconnect deployments are compliant with security standards and industry regulations.
  • Manage the budget for the Network Peering and Interconnect program, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Effectively communicate program status and updates to senior management and key stakeholders, providing regular reports on progress. Convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges within the program and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.
  • Lead the development of systems and tools that make the design, deployment and delivery of peering and interconnection easy and scalable. 

Expectations 

  • Experience in defining system and/or process requirements for scaled systems, including solutions architecture.
  • Experience in conceptualizing, designing and delivery of engineering outcomes & program launches across cross functional teams and domains.
  • Experience co-creating and owning technical program roadmap, strategy, and definition.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, network protocols (BGP, ISIS, MPLS), and interconnection technologies.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in network operations is a plus.

 

Education/Certifications  

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering). Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CCIE/JNCIE) is a plus.

Experience/Minimum Requirements   

  • 10+ years technical program management experience or in a related technical leadership role.
  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in network engineering, datacenter networks, network operations, or a related field in a network services provider environment.

For New York, Colorado, California and Washington residents the hiring range offered for this position is $160,000- $190,000 annually. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 30% of annual salary and annual restricted stock. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

 

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in your assigned office approximately 80% of the time (4 days per week) and where you do your best work 20% (1 day per week).  There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
