Trinity Industries is searching for a passionate Data Analyst for our Dallas TX Corporate office location.
What You'll Do:
Leverage technology to turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.
The Data Analyst will be presented with scenarios or problems that will require you to gather required data to facilitate discovery of potential solutions or outcomes.
Sources will vary, so the Analyst must have the ability to sift through appropriate data sources, assess data quality, and eliminate irrelevant data to identify and interpret patterns and trends.
Responsibilities
Analytical Skills: You will work with large amounts of data: facts, figures, and number crunching. You will need to see through the data and analyze it to find conclusions.
Communication Skills: You will have the opportunity to present your findings, or translate the data into an understandable document. You will need to write and speak clearly, easily communicating complex ideas.
Critical Thinking: You must look at the numbers, trends, and data and come to new conclusions based on the findings.
Attention to Detail: Data is precise. You have to make sure you are vigilant in your analysis to come to correct conclusions.
Math Skills: You require math skills to estimate numerical data.
Qualifications
What you'll need:
BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics; Master's preferred
Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
Technical expertise regarding various data modeling techniques such as Kimball vs. Inmon. Database design development including efficient design.
Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Qlik, etc), databases (SQL Server, etc), and programming (SQL, etc.)
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, functions, and macros to be used for data analysis
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems using various ETL techniques
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
