Job Description
This role of Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting production of Intuitive training models.
This position requires an extremely motivated individual with a high capacity to learn, analyze and
address problems in a fast-paced production environment. It requires a proactive mindset, a strong
understanding of the use cases for the models, and collaboration skills to root cause and resolve
production needs and problems. Joining Intuitive means joining a team dedicated to providing the

Essential Job Duties

  • Responsible for supporting the production process for training models, including resolving urgent and unanticipated issues as they arise.
  • Create and maintain an efficient manufacturing line by specifying material and process flow, refining BOMs, assembly processes, inspection procedures and work instructions.
  • Lead technical discussions and meetings to communicate issues and status to engineers, operations team, production team, manufacturing training and management.
  • Design, test and implement equipment, tools and fixtures for production to occur safely and at expected efficiency rates. Propose improvements and expected return on investment as needed.
  • Discover, analyze and implement process improvements or yield deficiencies for newly introduced and existing products.
  • Influence design of new and enhancements to existing models through a structured design for manufacturing and design for assembly techniques.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of non-conforming product, lead root cause investigations, and identify process deficiencies. Work with quality engineering to drive to root cause and follow-up with corrective action.
  • Utilize business systems (eg SAP) for data analysis. Identify improvements in the production process and business system. Collaborate with IT to test and implement changes as needed.
  • Provide training and support to operations and production technicians and leads as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Knowledge and execution of ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Knowledge and execution of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Must possess strong communication skills to interface with technicians, manufacturing trainers, production management, product development, planning, purchasing, quality inspection, and other engineering functions.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles and analysis including process capability analyses, process failure mode analyses, process mapping, statistical analyses, tolerance stacks, and experimental design.
  • Excellent documentation skills. Experience authoring work instructions and detailed manufacturing process instructions.
  • Proficiency with documentation control and product lifecycle management systems (eg Agile).
  • Proficiency with inventory management and production control systems (eg SAP).
  • Ability to work with CAD models (eg Solidworks) and read engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work with standard computer applications: SmartSheet, Microsoft office, excel, outlook, powerpoint, visio.

Required Education and Training

  • BS degree in engineering discipline. Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Green belt certification or equivalent

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • MS degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 5 or more years experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Black belt certification.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and six sigma.
  • Experience with MiniTab.
  • Prior experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment, eg FDA.
  • Experience and knowledge of basic anatomy and animal tissue.
  • Experience with manufacturing hydrogels or similar materials used in biomedical applications.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $121,400 USD - $174,600 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $103,200 USD - $148,400 USD
