Shipping Mechanic (Finance)



A Shipping Mechanic is responsible for preparing products for shipment according to specific orders and instructions. This role requires a combination of mechanical assembly skills and careful attention to detail for safe and secure shipping.
Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving and Preparing Shipments: You'll receive assignments, shipping orders, or verbal instructions to prepare engines and pumps for shipping.
  • Mechanical Assembly and Disassembly: You will assemble parts onto engines, such as bearings, pedestals, and couplings, as needed. For some export shipments, you will need to dismantle engines and pumps before they are boxed.
  • Engine and Pump Preparation: You are responsible for tasks like removing lifting heads, tightening cylinder head nuts, and closing openings on YLA bases.
  • Secure Packaging: A key part of the job is ensuring that shipments are secure. This includes padding sharp corners and applying cables or band iron to secure large loads on cars.
  • Inventory and Parts Handling: You will create shortage lists for any missing parts. The role also involves handling small parts by hand and using a crane for larger, heavier components.

This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship.
