Assistant Site Swim Team Coach | Walnut Creek Family YMCA (Project Management)
POSITION SUMMARY:
As an Assistant Site Team Coach, you will have the opportunity to deliver professional customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The individual will be responsible for planning, managing and directing teams and for ensuring the safety of participants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Attend scheduled team practices and meets. 2. Assist the head coach with developing/implementing the season training plan/themes/focus/workouts/and team events which will challenge and motivate the swimmers maximizing their swimming potential. 3. Ability to follow and implement written workouts provided by the head coach. 4. Maintain proper records, team lists, and reports as needed. 5. Address member concerns by appointments and/or phone conversations and notify supervisor. 6. Relate to individual members on a professional basis at all times. 7. Monitor and maintain equipment. 8. Ensure safety of participants by enforcing policies and disciplinary rules. 9. Report specific problems or needs to supervisor or designated staff person. 10. Create an environment that welcomes all types of swimmers from varying levels and backgrounds 11. Communicate with the team about information regarding team activities, meets, goals and daily training plans/themes 12. Know emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them. 13. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person. 14. Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.
