POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data Analyst, Health Policy is responsible for the review, interpretation, statistical analysis, and reporting for both internal and external clients using a variety of databases. This position conducts research, analysis and project management to identify the value of neurologists in clinical care. Products will primarily support work related to the quality of neurologic care and the AAN's in-house database.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data Analyst, Health Policy is responsible for the review, interpretation, statistical analysis, and reporting for both internal and external clients using a variety of databases. This position conducts research, analysis and project management to identify the value of neurologists in clinical care. Products will primarily support work related to the quality of neurologic care and the AAN's in-house database.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Quality Measure Testing
• Test quality measures developed by the AAN and recommend improvements for data capture in electronic health records alongside Manager, Health Policy Data Analytics
• Present findings to stakeholders both written and orally
Research
• Assist with data analysis on member research requests using in-house databases
• Conduct econometric and health services research using public databases alongside Manager, Health Policy Data Analytics
• Revise analysis based on stakeholder feedback
• Co-author manuscripts with team of researchers
Project Management & Administrative Work
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and be able to meet estimated deadlines
• Work with members and stakeholders to accommodate requests and find agreeable timelines
Reoccurring Analytics Reports
• Develop reoccurring reports summarizing key metrics and endpoints from in-house databases
Data Visualization
• Use data visualization techniques such as charts and infographics to illustrate results for non-statistical stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Health Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, or another scientific field is required
• Master's Degree is preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for qualification requirements
Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of data analytics experience required to successfully perform the job
• Strong training in statistics, health economics, public health analysis, or health services research is required
• Familiarity with electronic health record data and health information technology is preferred
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required
• Proficiency in STATA or SAS (or equivalent) is required
• Experience writing SQL queries is required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required
• Strong attention to detail is required
• Strong customer service skills are required
• Ability to interpret statistical findings to general audience is required
• Experience in Python and/or R is preferred
• Experience in the field of data science is preferred
ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Travel Requirements: Some travel required – approximately 10%.
Location: Minneapolis, MN and is identified as hybrid (required to work in the office a minimum of 2 days per week and remote up to 3 days per week)
Schedule: Some evenings and weekends required
Physical Requirements: Standard office setting, with ability to sit for long periods of time, occasional use of stairs; regular use of computer and office equipment, lifting up to 10 lbs.
